Getting Married
Welcome and thank you for considering St Francis as a venue for your wedding. We would love you to get married here.
The wedding ceremony is an act of worship as well as a celebration of marriage. Therefore, the form of the service and how it is conducted are overseen by the priest.
In Christian marriage, your relationship will be divinely sanctioned and your love for each other announced to the world. The sanctification of your life together is important and joyful.
How do I book a wedding at St Francis?
According to the law, you either need to live in a certain small geographical area, worshipped with us for at least six months, become a member of the Electoral Roll, or to have a historical attachment to the Church through your parents or grandparents.
To be married in the Church, at least one of the partners must be a Christian, baptised with water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It does not matter in which Christian denomination you were baptised. If you or your partner are not baptised, but now wish to become part of God’s family, please ask.
If one of you has been divorced, remarriage in the church is possible, but you will need to discuss your circumstances with the priest.
